Editorial policy
Southern Film Review aims to be accurate, independent and clear about the difference between fact, interpretation and opinion. We revisit published material when a meaningful error comes to light.
Accuracy and context
We check names, dates, titles and other factual details against material appropriate to the claim, and distinguish verified information from interpretation. Film readings are presented as arguments, not as the only possible meaning. When a claim cannot be established with confidence, we qualify it or leave it out.
Independence and corrections
Editorial decisions belong to Southern Film Review. A collaboration or commercial relationship does not buy a favourable assessment or control over editorial conclusions. If a reader identifies a factual error, send the detail through the Contact page. We review correction requests and amend material when warranted, making significant corrections clear to readers.
Partnerships and illustrations
Paid placements and other partner material are identified clearly so readers can tell them apart from independent editorial work. We do not present promotional copy as an editorial review. Some illustrations may be generated with AI; where used, they are identified, and they are not evidence of a film, person or event.
A place is more than a backdrop
Films can show how a region is imagined, remembered and questioned. We read those choices closely without treating any single film as the whole story.
